Workshops

briksn is my small homeware studio in East London, where I make trays, coasters and candle holders by hand from an eco-friendly mineral composite. But I also love showing other people how to do it!

Casting workshop

In this class you'll learn to cast your own homeware using an eco-friendly, water-based mineral composite. It's the same material I use for briksn pieces. You'll go home with one or two finished pieces you made yourself.

I'll start by showing you how the material works, how to measure and mix it properly, and how to add colour. Then you'll choose your moulds from a selection that includes trays, coasters, trinket dishes and candle holders, and pick your colours.

I'll walk you through a few different techniques, and you can try whichever you like:

  • Marbling: swirling two or more colours together
  • Colour blocking: pouring layers or sections of solid colour
  • Plain: a single colour for a clean, simple finish

Once you've poured, your pieces need around 20 minutes to set before they come out of the mould. While they set, I'll show you how to sand and finish them, and how to look after them at home. Then you'll demould your pieces and tidy up the edges. They carry on hardening for 12-24 hours, so you'll take them home with care instructions.

You don't need any experience. I'll show everyone each step and be on hand the whole time.

I come to you

I bring the whole workshop to you: materials, moulds, colours, gloves and aprons. You just need a room with some tables, whether that's your office, your home or a venue you've booked. It's an easy option for team socials, away days, hen dos, birthdays and other private groups, because your guests don't have to travel anywhere.
